As CEO, Dr. Liu leads the company’s strategy, operations, and overall business roadmap. Dr. Liu is a 3x entrepreneur and physician turned Digital Health entrepreneur. During his medical training, he co-led a research project at the University Health Network on hospital readmissions. As a result, Dr. Liu was inspired to develop technology to help providers engage and monitor patients to prevent adverse outcomes such as a readmission - which ultimately led to him co-founding SeamlessMD in 2012.
An advocate for healthcare innovation, Dr. Liu has served as Chair of the Canadian Medical Association’s Joule Innovation Council and on the Advisory Group to the Office of the Chief Health Innovation Strategist for the Ontario Ministry of Health. Dr. Liu has also served on the Shad Valley Board of Directors and as a Startup Advisor to Northeastern University. He frequently speaks at industry events hosted by Epic, Forbes, TEDx and university faculties of medicine about the latest advancements in digital health, trends in digital transformation, digital care journeys, the rise of consumerism in healthcare, digital patient engagement trends, and strategies for optimizing the patient experience.
He is a CHIME Foundation member and hosts The Digital Patient rated in 2022 as one of the top 30 best digital health podcasts. On a weekly basis, Dr. Liu gets together with healthcare, technology, and innovation leaders to discuss the latest advancements in digital health, trends in digital transformation, and strategies for optimizing the patient experience.
Dr. Liu has received numerous honours, including being named Digital Health Executive of the Year by Digital Health Canada, Forbes 30 Under 30 in Science and Healthcare, Canadian Top 20 Under 20, TD Canada Trust Scholar, Creative Destruction Lab Alumn and The Next 36 Alumn.
Dr. Liu holds a MD from the University of Toronto and a BSc from York University.
As Chief Technology Officer, Willie Kwok, leads the company’s product vision, roadmap, and technology infrastructure. He collaborates closely with leading EHR providers Epic, Cerner, and Meditech to oversee all integrations with SeamlessMD’s platform.
Prior to co-founding SeamlessMD with Dr. Joshua Liu in 2012, Willie worked at Vodafone’s Innovation Center and Venture Capital group in Silicon Valley on mobile health, where he successfully prepared strategic venture investments for partner startups, served as project manager for portfolio companies, and performed due diligence for prospective partners. Willie has a background in bioinformatics and health technologies.
Over the years, Willie has presented at industry events organized by Epic and Scale AI on topics such as EHR-integrated digital patient engagement and remote monitoring, and AI applications in healthcare.
Willie holds an Honours Degree in Computer Science and Microbiology from the University of British Columbia. He is an alumni of both the Creative Destruction Lab and The Next 36.
With a proven track record in designing patient education and experiences using best practices in health literacy, adult learning, and risk communication, Denice Koo leads the company’s R&D efforts for all new digital care plans, including the development of content, quality assurance, and implementation.
Prior to joining SeamlessMD, Denice founded and managed her own patient education consulting company. For 14 years, Denice has led or worked on the development of more than 400 evidence-based resources for leading healthcare organizations, including the University Health Network, St. Michael’s Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Dedicated to the advancement of health literacy and patient education, Denice has experience running workshops such as Stanford University's Chronic Disease Self-Management program and co-taught the class Evidence-Informed Practice at Ryerson University for the Internationally Educated Dietitians Pre-Registration Program.
Denice holds a Master of Health Science in Nutrition Communication from Ryerson University and a certificate in Health Literacy Leadership from Tufts University.
Meherazade Sumariwalla leads the company’s customer success team, where she is responsible for the vision and execution of customer service and support of SeamlessMD’s customer base. Meherazade has leveraged her passion for building and maintaining strong relationships with customers to collaborate closely with them to achieve clinical outcomes through the full utilization of SeamlessMD’s Digital Care Journeys across multiple service lines.
Prior to joining SeamlessMD, Meherazade was a healthcare consultant with the Advisory Board Company and KPMG, where she worked with hospitals ranging from large academic medical centers to community hospitals to improve quality, reduce costs and tackle care variation, with an emphasis on using data-driven insights. Her experience spans the areas of improving length of stay, preventing readmissions, decreasing unnecessary imaging utilization, antibiotic stewardship, and projects across surgical and medical divisions.
Meherazade holds a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Johns Hopkins University.
Jeremiah McGuire leads the company’s sales organization, responsible for new customer acquisition and customer expansion initiatives. He brings a deep understanding of the healthcare industry with more than two decades of technology experience with a focus on driving disruptive solutions, building long-standing customer relationships, and nurturing strategic partnerships.
Prior to joining SeamlessMD, Jeremiah held the role of Vice President, Sales & Strategy for WebMD, where he led clinical sales and strategy to deliver integrated patient education, engagement, and adherence solutions to health systems - including leading commercial efforts for their Krames digital patient education solutions. Jeremiah has served in a variety of senior sales leadership roles at organizations such as SONIFI Health, Netsmart Technologies, and Allscripts.
Jeremiah holds an MBA from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Tracy Staniland leads all aspects of the company’s marketing strategy including demand generation, communications, product marketing, digital and sales enablement. A strategic B2B enterprise focused marketing leader with more than two decades of experience, she has helped tech start-ups take their brand to the next level, achieve growth targets, evangelize emerging and new categories, and forge strategic industry partnerships.
Before joining SeamlessMD, Tracy held senior marketing roles at SaaS-based and AI companies focused on multiple industries including healthcare and insurance. At PolicyMedical (now RLDatix), an enterprise policy management platform for healthcare, she was instrumental in leading a high-performance marketing team and driving effective growth marketing programs resulting in existing customer expansion and new customers. Previously, she held marketing roles at Chisel AI, Asigra, Camilion Solutions, DataMirror, and IBM. In 2015, CRN Magazine recognized her as 100 People You Don’t Know But Should.
Yolanda Ho leads the People & Operations team, where she is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing our people strategy. She has been an integral part in scaling the organization while maintaining its unique culture. Yolanda lives and breathes the organizations’ culture, values and philosophies and ensures our people and processes do the same.
Prior to joining SeamlessMD, Yolanda worked in international healthcare recruitment and long term care. She has a strong passion for improving the quality of healthcare delivery which stems from her unique experience working in long term care while also being a caregiver for her grandmother, who is a resident at the same long term care facility.
Yolanda holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Bioethics and Equity Studies from the University of Toronto, a certificate in Human Resources Management from Toronto Metropolitan University and is a Certified Human Resources Professional through the Human Resources Professional Association.
