Toronto, Canada – October 10, 2023 –  SeamlessMD, a leading Digital Care Journey platform for hospitals and health systems, today announced it has been selected to participate in the Plug and Play Alberta Digital Health Program, to advance solutions for addressing urgent challenges facing the healthcare workforce.

With Canada’s healthcare system under pressure to reduce long wait times in crowded emergency departments and surgical backlogs as well as the strain of workforce shortages, technology adoption and the shift to delivering digital care has proven to free up system capacity by enabling safer transitions from hospital to home ultimately shortening hospital length of stay, improving surgery throughput even fostering same-day surgeries. In a country as uniquely geographically distributed as Canada, the use of digital care solutions enables providers to better serve rural and underserved patient populations, improve access to care, the patient experience, and enable higher-value care models.

This Plug and Play Alberta Digital Health Program is a three month program that officially launched on September 7, 2023, and will run until the Plug and Play Alberta EXPO on November 30, 2023, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Throughout the next 12 weeks, the cohort will have the opportunity to participate in networking events, workshops, mentor sessions, and more to increase their chances of securing exclusive pilots, proof of concepts, new customers, and investments. Corporate partners participating in the program include Boehringer Ingelheim Canada and Takeda Canada. With an Advisory Panel including representations from Alberta Health Services, Novartis Canada, Bayer Canada, and Roche.

“SeamlessMD is thrilled to be participating in the Fourth Cohort of Plug and Play Alberta’s Digital Health Accelerator Program. This is a great opportunity for the company to further strengthen its position as a key digital care solution provider and broaden deployment of our Digital Care Journey platform in Western Canada,” said Dr. Joshua Liu, CEO and Co-founder, SeamlessMD. “We look forward to connecting and collaborating with new partners, as well as showcasing how our Digital Care Journey platform enables healthcare providers to do more with less, remote monitor patients across multiple specialities without the burden of managing devices, and reduce readmissions, ED visits and phone calls.”

As healthcare organizations look to automate care delivery workflows and optimize unnecessary interventions, the SeamlessMD Digital Care Journey platform enables them to deliver personalized, just in time, interactive patient education, instructions, reminders, symptom questionnaires, and step-by-step guidance that empowers patients to manage their own care while providers can remotely monitor patients reducing the burden on care teams and improving clinical workflow efficiencies.
