Today we operate in

a complex healthcare system with constant changes in legislation and policy. To make sure we are heading in the right direction, we rely on incredible advisors who help drive our mission of making healthcare seamless. In particular, we were looking for the right advisor to ensure our work is aligned with the Affordable Care Act and the U.S. healthcare landscape as a whole.Today, we are honoured to announce our newest advisor: Dr. Thomas Tsai.Dr. Tsai recently begun a 1-year term as an Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the U.S Department of Health & Human Services to help understand the impact of the Affordable Care Act on access to high-quality care.Currently, Dr. Tsai is a general surgery resident at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), serves on the BWH Surgical Quality Improvement Committee and is a Research Associate in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. His research focuses on using national Medicare claims data to analyze variations in surgical cost and quality to inform healthcare policy and legislation. Over the past year, he has published in JAMA and the New England Journal of Medicine on surgical readmissions and quality of care.“I am excited to be advising a team that’s dedicated to re-engineering how we deliver high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the entire surgical episode,” says Dr. Tsai. “As health policy interventions focus increasingly on how patients do in the post-acute care setting, delivery innovations that provide seamless care transitions will be important not just for the efficiency of the health care system, but more importantly provide better care for patients.”Dr. Tsai’s input will help align SeamlessMD’s vision of providing better data-driven patient engagement with the evolving landscape of health reform. We are proud to have his support in advancing patient care forward.Welcome Dr. Tsai!
